Discover an unparalleled architectural gem of Jehangir's tomb in Lahore. During your tour in Lahore, take time to visit this mausoleum of the fourth Mughal Emperor, a stunning example of the Mughal architectural style.
Lying three miles northwest of Lahore across the Ravi River, the Jehangir tomb is a grandiose structure built by his consort Noor Jehan and his Emperor son Shah-Jehan, around 1637 A.D. It was built on the site of Bagh-i Dilkusha, a garden previously laid out by his consort at Shahdara, the principal entry point to Lahore.
Made of red sandstone and inlaid with marble, the tomb lies at the center of a garden and rests on a raised platform and is surrounded with soaring minarets on all four corners. Inside, Jehangir's sarcophagus is elaborately decorated with floral designs involving vegetal pietra dura work and the 99 Attributes of God.
